ABOUT
Steve Percoco founded Lark Research in 1991 as an independent provider of investment research to institutional clients. His core coverage area includes housing-related sectors, such as homebuilding. In 1995, he began publishing Net Realizable Value, a newsletter devoted to the residential real estate industry. In 2001, he became the publisher of Income Builder, a research-oriented newsletter that covers the financial markets broadly for individual investors. Income Builder focuses on investments that are readily accessible to individual investors, including stocks, bonds and mutual funds. Besides the two newsletters, Lark Research offers contract research services to institutional investors, broker-dealers and companies whose debt and equity securities are publicly-traded.
From 1994-2004, Steve was an active member of the New York Society of Security Analysts. From 1995-2004, he chaired the Committee for Improved Corporate Reporting, where he produced conferences and other programs on accounting standards and financial reporting issues for NYSSA members. In that position, he organized efforts to comment on FASB and SEC proposed standards and initiated an annual liaison meeting with the FASB. At NYSSA, he also produced conference programs on topics such as the housing industry, the security industry, the coal industry, bankruptcy investing and derivatives. From 1996-2002, he served on NYSSA's Board of Directors. He was given the Society's Volunteer-of-the-Year award in 1995, 1996, 2001 and 2002.
Prior to founding Lark Research, Steve served as Vice President in the High Yield Corporate Bond Research Department at Salomon Brothers (1987-1990). His coverage there included industries, such as soft drink bottlers, supermarkets, fashion retailing, conglomerates and special situations and he specialized in bankrupt and distressed securities.
At Bank of Boston (1983-1987), Steve served as a credit officer in the Loan Officer Development Program, with responsibilities for credit training and overseeing the progress of other trainees. Later, he served as an investment officer in the bank's Corporate Finance division.
In 2004, Steve founded the Springfield NJ Investor Education Group of the American Association of Individual Investors. He has served as a member of the FASB's User Advisory Council. Steve is a graduate of Bowdoin College and Harvard Business School.
