The reason for this is that the U.S. economy, though still extremely important on a global basis, no longer commands 25% of all economic activity. U.S. global input is at 18% and declining. The 82% non U.S. share perceives it as a necessity to disconnect from the U.S. altogether. Such being the case; foreign governments will continue to push their economies and borrow today in order to build for tomorrow.

This is a concept that most American economists simply can not grasp as it is perhaps viewed as anti-American. The truth be told, this is not anti-American. It is the will to achieve financial independence. Teflon-like resilience is good but a strong will to become independent is far more potent.

Stephen Roach on China and the Commodities Cyclical Bear Case http://seekingalpha.com/article/17037-stephen-roach-on-china-and-the-commodities-cyclical-bear-case?source=feed#comment-64543 64543 Mon, 18 Sep 2006 07:03:37 -0400 2. We are talking about growth for 1.3 billion people or 4 times that of the USA.
3. The supply side is not making any major discoveries.

There may be a small lull and some consolidation of prices in the near term but that is all. The longer term outlook is definitely bullish in our humble opinion.

Stephen Roach on China's Tightening Campaign http://seekingalpha.com/article/15790-stephen-roach-on-china-s-tightening-campaign?source=feed#comment-60331 60331 Thu, 24 Aug 2006 13:11:11 -0400 I enjoyed reading -just now - all of Stephen Roach's postings that were available.
I am an American, living in the states. I look for additional information on China.
Mr. Roach's comments in this post illuminate the actual facts of China's fast developing economy. My read of this excerpt is that growth is so strong in China that trying to gain control over the nascent growth is not expected at this time. He does not give a timeframe, but I have to assume it would be after China's growth and development continue for a significant period of time.
Thank you for providing Mr. Roach's remarks.

USA economy instead has continued growth serious problems when compared with China. USA should not attempt to "use" China's population to monetize USA's excessive personal and government debt. Per capita must not include China's population. Nor may USA pension "under funding" be supplimented by China's economy. Those are to non-china originated economic crisis.]]>
