  • Seven Canadian Energy Stock Picks  [View article]
Right now some of the best Canadians are not listed on the NYSE. Go to the TSX and pick up a Gallieon, a Prospect Ex, an Ithaca etc. NYSE are the big caps and like toomuchgas said 'fully priced" at todays levels.
The others are undervalued even today based on future production gains.

  • Q2 2008 Portfolio Moves: David Winters, T. Boone Pickens, Jim Puplava [View article]
Hey guys, I got an idea: why don't we find out if Picken's is sincere on the "Wind to Energy" idea or just an elaborate ploy for water sales. Which if true is brilliant.

Write your Congressman, US Senator, tell them we should build a pipeline from the Grat Lakes to the Mid continent Prairie to ensure wheat and corn productiion due to changing weather patterns.

Then see what happens. A movement could be started.

  • Canadian Oil Sands: Gates and Buffett Visit [View article]
You get three things from oil sands development: 1. environmental problems that are significant, 2. Jobs, alot of jobs, 3. You also get oil.

I wonder what Buffet and Gates were looking at: environment or jobs or oil?
I think they were looking at the color of money.

  • Buffett, Gates Help Bid Up Canadian Natural Resources [View article]
I think Ernie could be right on this one. However, there is one caveat: Buffet may come tothe conclusion that there is no viable alternative for transportation fue for decadesl and go ahead and invest in an oil sands project or projects.

  • RBC Upgrades Canadian Natural Resources; Downgrades Nexen [View article]
The Nexen execution risk has been exagerated to a fairly un-realistic degree. The product is there and at depths financially favorable. The execution will be slower, but will see 29,000 boed at worst 9 months longer than anticipated.

With the advent of the gassifier technology, Nexen will produce 39 to 40 API oil at only half the gas consumption and far less water consumption and hardly any remediation expenses as compared to the miners of bit, such as Suncor.

Nexen has been dissapointing in execution but will deliver. I see no need to switch out to CNQ. Add money to develop a position in CNQ but don't sell Nexen to get it. Nexen is better diversified than CNQ and it's Buzzard field is the proverbial "company maker".
