    @therealguru,

You sort of lost me at RIMM is irrelevant. The fact that the smartphone market is still growing (exploding actually) and RIMM is now number 3, and is still growing its market share?

Couple this with its security niche, and the many security conscience clients? results in RIM having a business..... and customers......

So what you are saying is we are only going to have 2 choices AAPL and GOOG products? Since Windows phone is already security exploited? Why don't all the North American car manufactures just pack it in then, since there is only room for Toyota, and VW? The carriers have already stressed they want more than 2 offerings.... Or do you just want to be told what you need from AAPL?

People change their smartphones more often then they change their cars, jobs, homes, friends, shall I go on....?

Funny RIMMjohn..... I was in Costco the other day, they have a cell phone activation counter, and this little old man hobbled up to the counter with his old BlackBerry. As I observed the sale presentation move through all the phones, he opted to get another "older" BlackBerry....

This is one old man, but the point is, that you can't assume everyone somehow is going to "switch" to iPhone or Samsung that have BB's at xmas, even though they know that a new phone is coming out from RIM in the new year? But they won't wait a couple of months? hogwash.... I'm waiting and others are as well.

Also losing 30 million subs that fast, when the trend has been up seems like a gross exaggeration. That is the entire user base of iPhone's in the US, is just going to leave RIMM in the next few months when a new phone is coming out? I see no logic here. Please explain where you get your numbers from?

My prediction is that RIMM can easily hit $18.. (par book value) this time next year..Or earlier......

If you don't think it will hit $12 (tangible book) at the slightest hint of a successful BB10 launch give your head a shake.

    LOL Marcap,

How did I know you'd show up here.

Your first quote is from a sell side analyst. Big surprise he doesn't recommend a RIMM buy. I am sure he will change to a buy and increase his rating when RIMM hits $12. His opinion is full of platitudes.

And guess what they are all a bunch of quotes. Where is the data.....? Can you convince us with logic versus hearsay and what people say?

Also as for the Zynga quote, maybe Pincus should focus on saving his own company versus worrying about what smartphone's his business is using.... see links below... Also Zynga has what 1000 employees as of today? big deal.

Right...JH2012..... because in order to go bankrupt you need to owe to a creditor.... which RIMM does not.... how many companies in the S&P have no debt again? What percentage does that work out to?

So when they sell this new BB10 product, that won't translate into more revenue and possible profit? OR do you think they will just take 300 million loss's each quarter for the next 12 months?

Why don't you calculate a conservative 10 million BB10 sales 1/8 of their current sub base *$100 a guess at profit per phone minus 5000 workers salaries, and see what number you come up with. Then see if you can say the same thing.... even an elementary school kid can figure out this is a good deal at current valuation.

    Nice article Kurt,

I agree all around. Some additional strengths are licensing of QNX, patents (which we have all seen can be used to make money by suing), 1.5 billion in un-mortgaged real-estate if additional cash is needed.

Trimmed down workforce should also improve margins.

LONDON -- (Marketwire) -- 11/15/12 -- While gold prices have been up and down this year, the yellow metal could soon rise, as the pending fiscal cliff in the U.S. could lead prices higher. Gold is often used as a hedge against inflation as well as a safe haven in times of economic uncertainty, both of which could continue through the remainder of 2012 and into 2013. This bodes well for the industry as well as companies such as Newmont Mining Corp. and Kinross Gold Corporation.
