    Good point Jack,

I could say the same thing about BBRY inside government, banks, and other security conscience organizations (lionshare and margin). I will agree that Apples superior margins is an advantage, I just don't know how sustainable it is or can be for the future.

And you think people will pay Apple's premium forever? and that Apple will be able to maintain its margins? they are already releasing a "cheaper" phone. Value can only stare in the face of people for so long. Sure there are people that will pay the premium, but will it be the same.

I know quite a few people that are agnostic when it comes to phone hardware and price is a big motivator because they know that they will want a new one in another 2 years because it will be twice as fast.

its a commodity and margins will be shaved just like they did in the PC Era. $3000 computers became $600 computers. How many phones have you been through in the last 10 years?

@ Jack I guess most of Asia or 75% of the market share is living in a reality distortion field as well.

"I saw this at Xerox, and I took the idea"

    That was my point.

@davel Actually you can print a whole shoe which is useful, you can print a human ear, and you can even print a workable gun. I suggest you do more research on 3D printing and how fast it is evolving.

Exactly and Apple does not have a monopoly now. what i'm trying to point out in this article is someone(s) else hold the lionshare and that is why Apple today released the 5C as they are losing marketshare fast in the emerging markets.

they take home 45% profit because they charge double for the same piece of hardware and are able to get away with it because of their brilliant marketing on being able to convince people to pay more. hats off to them for that.

BTW Apple's marketshare and shipments in PC's is also shrinking since that industry as a whole is. so that 45% gravy train is getting smaller each day.
