Is Dividend Growth Investing Enthusiasm Inflating A Bubble?
Thanks all for a great set of comments, lots to reflect on. The context to the article is that we are writing a book about the history of dividend strategies (review copies available here -
), having recently published one about value investing (
, also on Amazon).
It has actually been proving a little harder to write the dividend book (we are behind our original July deadline!), since the published/academic literature on dividend investing as a distinct strategy is.. a little wishy-washy/lacklustre, shall we say (work by Geraldine Weiss being one notable exception).
Anyway, this piece was one attempt - as a bunch of Brits - to get our minds around the US DGI phenomenon, so it was pleasing to see it being picked by SA as the spiritual home of DGI thinking!
We will take some time to reflect on these comments and address them in the book certainly, and probably in a follow-up article too.
p.s. Here is another piece covering DGI -
- which discusses the history of dividend growth investing in more detail, e.g. it references Roxann Klugman and touches on the Peter Lynch point highlighted above.
