I am an older investor who doesn't fit the stereotype. I focus on buying high dividend paying stocks and closed end funds. I also sell puts. This means I watch the market each day.
The stocks include mortgage reits, master limited partnerships, and business development companies. In addition I buy bond funds that either use a little leverage or write calls on the S&P 500 (so called buy-write funds). Did I forget to mention preferred stocks? I even have one Royalty Trust that currently is disappointing in its price, but the dividend is good. I think the price will recover.
Most of my time is spent with the puts and I use technical analysis.
