Yes, mobile includes tablets. The shift from PCs to tablets is affecting the mobile versus desktop numbers. This makes the mobile numbers look more impressive, but everybody ignored the drop in desktop revenue.

In the end, mobile might have been higher, but the bottom line was still the same as last year.

Agree. Appears 24 will be the top. The market as a whole needs a relief rally so FB might try 24 again.

Amazing to see people jump on a number that didn't even add to earnings growth. My fears were that the stock would make another attempt at the low 20s. Luckily for me it jumped around the way to 24 before I could make any attempts to short.

No QoQ numbers or usage. FB did a great job of hiding the declining growth.

The real issue is that the number users doesn't matter. Its the amount of usage that matters. The biggest problem FB faces is that somebody using the services for 30 minutes a day last year could be down to 10 mins. Sure that person still counts as a MAU and DAU, but that person is no longer as valuable.

Never addressed on the call though I believe Math Mathaney did mention the issue with declining ad revenue from the desktop.

Yes, FB is a huge fad. Notice how the press release talks about the growth in MAU and DAU and mobile. No talk though about the more important number of total usage. How much time does that DAU spend on FB now vs last year?

The other issue is that valuation. Earnings were flat YoY. That doesn't justify such a lofty valuation.

Think the stock peaks in the morning due to the reality of the higher costs and the unlock. The 50ema is at 21.14 so that appears a very critical point tomorrow.

Mobile was 43% of total usage so 14% isn't that much to push the stock up. Desktop ads are going to plunge. Besides clearly the mobile revenue doesn't fall to the bottom line b/c its taking a lot more costs.

Excluding share-based compensation and related payroll tax expenses, non-GAAP costs and expenses were $737 million, an increase of 57%.

Too many people focusing on the revenue side in AHs. The key will be costs.

$FB trading up nearly 8% to $21 in after hours. Now thats the action feared on $FB. So many doubted that it would jump back to these levels.

  • Natural Gas Rigs: Headed Towards A Shortage - Part IV [View article]
    doubleducks,
that is not a very accurate analysis at all. So the amount of rigs drilling for nat gas is down 2/3 from highs due to infrastructure?

The rigs drilling are making a lot more money working on oily wells. The problem for nat gas is that these rigs and crews won't come back until nat gas prices are significantly higher. Sure the rigs will return eventually, but my major concern is that these stocks will be crushed by then.

This argument has been made on so many energy/commodity items in the history of time yet nobody ever seems to get that the balance of power always shifts.

Natural gas is only abundant and cheap if E&P companies are willing to pull the commodity out of the ground. Right now they aren't. It will not remain cheap.

Joanna Shields, head of operations in Europe. Interesting job opportunity, but she wouldn't be leaving if the company had huge growth ahead.

  • OpenTable (OPEN - $985M market cap) and Millennial Media (MM - $1.12B market cap) were among the companies Yahoo (YHOO) "appeared to show interest" in buying when pitched on deals by bankers, a source tells Reuters. Also reportedly piquing Yahoo's interest were PubMatic, a provider of ad monetization services for Web publishers, and Turn, a developer of ad targeting apps. Yahoo, which is giving back 85% of its Alibaba proceeds to shareholders, is said to be eying targets that can improve either user engagement or ad monetization. [View news story]
OPEN might be the only one ready to take an offer. No way MM wants to be a part of YHOO though such a deal would make my VELT shares soar.
