    bubba,
shouldn't the R&D phase have occurred the last couple of years? DDD said its going to have a $1B in revenue next year.

    tinsley09,
So now facts on valuation are spin? Guess you don't mind paying a enterprise value multiple of 20x revenue.

Don't necessarily disagree with those concepts, but you notably left any discussion of value. How much are you willing to pay for DDD? By the way, it might be a small company, but it sure isn't a small valuation at $8B.

  • Riverbed adds $250M to buyback, denies report of ~$25/share offers [View news story]
agree with Elliott, it is very perplexing to announce a buyback with the stock up due to buyback speculation and denying that anybody is willing to pay $25. RVBD should pay down the debt.

    LZG,
interesting information that questions the non-accrual statements, but ultimately it comes down to the NAV and return/risk scenario. Nobody invests in a BDC that obtains 11, 12, 13% on loans without expecting some write downs.

I'd say 1% really isn't that much... wouldn't expect much from a regional conflict. Putin wants to look important but I seriously doubt he wants the US and Western Europe to take him out of power.

    doggie,
it is curious that TWTR is the real time news site yet it has a limited user base. Not sure anybody in my extended family even uses it yet, but heck the group isn't exactly early adopters having just got smartphones in the last year.

    226,
Twitter does have a mounting problem of getting the 'rest' of the crowd to sign up. It has definitely become for the crowd that likes to broadcast information, where as a great deal of people would prefer to only consume.

At this point, Twitter has the attention of the important crowd while FB has the soccer moms and grand parents. Ultimately, the Twitter has the more valuable user base regardless of the size.

    Ol Blue Eyes,
So you have little contact with recent grads, but you suggest knowing that they go to FB to contact friends???? So it isn't cool and their all using Instagram, SnapChat, and Twitter but there going to contact friends via Facebook that isn't cool?

It makes no sense that anybody would go back to a uncool social network. It has never happened in the history of social networks and FB has not suddenly become cool. If anything the lack of innovation should be very concerning for longs.

    Ol Blue Eyes,
those connections are where I think FB counts people as users that don't technically go directly to facebook.com. If you check on the facebook box below, this message will be posted to FB under your name creating a whole group of people posting to FB with nobody actually reading those posts.

By the way, most of the people and shows I watch promote Twitter handles and not FB pages.
