Underwater how? Find a article where I actually shorted the stock and held. The warning all a long last year was that the stock could irrationally trade higher. My thesis has been absolutely 100% accurate. The stock trader higher and the teens are leaving in droves making for the perfect short. The question still remains whether its now or after Q4.

Investors can stay irrational for a very long time.

I'd probably cover if it breaks above $58.50 looking for a higher price to re-short. On the low side, I'm looking to hold it until it breaks down could be till it hits $20.

    Fred,
What has FB innovated in the last couple of years that makes the site better now? Its only focus now is on ads.

You don't market to teens so your viewpoint on marketing isn't all that valid yet. What happens when the 25 to 40 crowd disappears.

The biggest mistake the longs are making is the assumption that traffic on FB will continue growing forever. The only person I know that used the site more in 2013 than 2012 is my over 60 parents. Doesn't provide a lot of upside.

Misinformed or not thorough enough? Do you really doubt that teens are leaving the site b/c parents show up?

    stock,
If you really think the importance of teens regards purchasing power than you're lost. Why is the target ad audience typically 18-34 yr olds? Think about it.

    Rock53,
Really? What's so uninformed? So easy to criticize but you don't provide any meaningful info.

Even FB admits a teen problem now so why are you so uninformed?

Yes, the traders leave for the holidays and slow down activities, but traders don't need to be in this stock. In fact, they are likely looking for shorts. The funds are the ones needing in this stock, but the holidays didn't prevent them from buying.

andy, 58.50 is a key point right now. Looks like a possible double top, but it could always breakout. Like you I'd probably cover my short on a breakout and look for a better price. A short at 70 would be even better if the longs are crazy enough to push the price that high.

    drp,
You can't be serious? Teen are fleeing FB in droves. Its amazing that despite all of the evidence that most bulls are in utter denial.

The biggest issue is that people confusing being on FB with being focused on FB. As of used in my example, a big difference exists between logging onto FB for 1 min a day and 60 mins a day. In the numbers provided by FB it all counts the same, but it won't to the long-term importance of the site.

Not a technical expert, but can you have a double headed pattern? Its more a double top, but the closing today will be key. Above 58.50 and it breaks out, below 57.50 and it breaks down.

Double top today at $58.55 with the stock trading around the lows of the day is very bearish especially after the upgrades this week. Analysts pumping up the stock to get clients out????

    cashawash,
wow... glad you liked the article. ;-)

GS Analytics presents a case where value matters. Ever bullish comment to my article ignores valuation. Its all about teens not being a problem, Instagram, monetizing users more, blah, blah, blah. It still comes down to FB needing to roughly double 2014 revenue estimates to $20B in order to make the current value even a remote possibility. What I'm saying on the flip side, is not only FB isn't worth the existing value, but it actually has a major issue with teens that could crush the network. The best case scenario is an internet utility.

    BAHAMAS1,
when all the analysts have upgraded, the smart investors get out...retail is going to be left holding the bag. Notice the stock action today. Nice double top at 58.55! Be careful following analysts that have alternative motives.
