Mr. Frommer was named interim CFO of Carlin during the integration period.
Prior to spending eight years as an entrepreneur and senior corporate manager as detailed above, Mr. Frommer spent time as a Managing Director at Bank of America Securities and a Director at the Royal Bank of Canada. In both positions, he was the Head Portfolio Manager of the Event-Driven Proprietary Trading Group, managing portfolios as large as $1 billion. Mr. Frommer has also held a number of senior positions at other financial institutions, including at Guard Hill Capital as Head Trader, at Bankers Trust as Head Trader of the Principal Investing Group, and at Kidder Peabody & Co., where he underwent his credit training. It was at this early juncture in his career when he started to build professional relationships with both Alan Portnoi and Dean Machado that would lead to the construction of the majority of the General Partner’s senior management team. Mr. Frommer holds a B.A. degree in Philosophy from State University of New York at Albany where he graduated magna cum laude and has studied philosophy at the London School of Economics.
In his later life, Mr. Frommer has taken up the practice of yoga, and he imparts his newfound hobby upon his HFL colleagues. He fashions himself a moral realist. Catalyst Corner is a financial website that provides FREE in-depth research reports on companies with significant milestones or “catalysts” coming up in the near-term. Whether the catalyst is as a result of pending regulatory changes, an FDA ruling on a new drug, the release of a game-changing new technology product or the procurement or loss of a government contract, these events have the power to significantly change a company’s valuation in ways that day-to-day growth and operations cannot. They represent catalysts of change to a company’s cash flow, revenue, market cap and of course, stock price. Catalyst Corner gives you the in-depth information you need to know in order to understand and take advantage of these market opportunities.
In addition to our free research, members of Catalyst Corner also gain access to our unique and proprietary Pair Trading Tool which allows for the construction of dollar-neutral pair trades. A dollar-neutral pair trade is a long and short position in two different stocks each initially having the same dollar value. Our Pair Trading Tool allows members to create their own paired stock positions, consisting of one long and one short security. The flexibility of the model enables members to decide which US listed stocks to pair against one another and how much capital they desire to employ per long position. The Pair Trading Tool prepares a detailed data sheet which allows for fundamental and statistical comparison of a user defined pair. Also included is a comprehensive guide so that the Pair Trading Tool can be used by any investor.
Members also receive our regular e-mail research updates written by professional Wall Street analysts. These e-blasts keep our members informed by tracking and summarizing recent important developments at our focus companies. E-blasts, when read in conjunction with our company specific research, allow for a comprehensive overview of pending catalysts.
Catalyst Corner was developed by Paul B. Rosenberg, Founder of Charter Partners LP, a New York City-based hedge fund. Since 1997, Paul has been managing capital on behalf of institutions, fund-of-funds and high net worth individuals in strategies such as Risk Arbitrage, Event-Driven Investing and Long/Short Pair Trading. The impetus behind Catalyst Corner was Paul’s desire to create a niche financial website that exclusively focused on highlighting interesting investment situations that have gone largely unnoticed by the broader investing public.
