  • Bank of America: Rumors Provide Rare Opportunity [View article]
"BAC as recently as today has denied that they need new capital."
Do you trust them? Lehman cited a takeover offer as undervalued two days before their stock went to zero.

"If they needed new capital, the haircut wouldn't be at a 50% discount to its current tangible book value."
Depends on how you are calculating Tangible Book Value. If you trust management no.s you are likely wrong!!!

Now bulls like Appaloosa's David Tepper are also giving up... Here's why you should sell it. seekingalpha.com/artic...

  • More on the Apple-Samsung verdict: Samsung (SSNLF.PK) has been ruled guilty of infringing additional Apple (AAPL) patents via more than a dozen devices. The jury has also ruled Samsung's infringement of 5 patents was willful (could produce multiple damages), that its parent company induced subsidiaries to infringe, and that none of Apple's patents are invalid. One minor win for Samsung: the Galaxy Tab is deemed innocent of copying the iPad's design. (live blog[View news story]

  • Things Might Not Be That Bad For Hewlett-Packard [View article]
Confidence eroding. Secular and competitive headwinds intensify. Restructuring progressing, but will take years. HP is transforming from a PC/printer firm into a diversified enterprise supplier but faces multiple risks tied to execution and competition.

Things are pretty bad for HPQ, whether you agree or not

Its more a question of where US economy is headed. If you believe we are entering recession again then BAC cant avoid a lot of Mark to Market write-downs.

  • BlackRock's Top 15 Sells [View article]
Armando, if you consider equal weight portfolio of these stocks, it has underperformed market by 340 bps if we take march 31 as an starting date. These stocks on an average have declined 6.90% vs S&P declining 3.50% since march 31 till date. I am not talking about the whole portfolio but these 15 are the biggest sell of blackrock implying highest conviction. 11 out of these 15 stocks have declined since March 31 after blackrock sold them.

I don't mind giving friendly links, but frankly I didn't even looked at your article before writing. Can you refer specific points you believe are unique to your thesis. Chinese prospects and lipstick indexes are well known things.
Nevertheless I have seen your article now and it definitely is a good read. Thanks for sharing your link .

  • None of Yelp's (YELP +22.5%) three main VC backers, who together own almost 60% of the company, sold or distributed shares today, a source tells Dan Primack. Another source claims chairman Max Levchin (13.6% stake) and CEO Jeremy Stoppelman (11.1%) also didn't sell on the first day they were allowed to do so. That goes a long way towards explaining today's giant short covering-fueled rally. (earlier: I, II[View news story]

  • Well, this is a far cry from what happened with Facebook and Angie's List. Yelp (YELP +24.4%) is skyrocketing on lockup expiration day, as shorts who profited during the company's recent selloff rush to cover. 5M shares have already been traded, or more than 5x Yelp's average daily volume. It looks as if the handful of VCs and insiders who own nearly 85% of outstanding shares aren't in a hurry to sell, at least for now. (earlier[View news story]
