  • Hamilton Bancorp: Undiscovered Gem With An Exit Strategy - Target Price: $21 [View article]
Price to Book valuation isn't contingent on size of loan book. The executive loan team could have gone anywhere but they went to HBK...and quite frankly I really don't care how or why. You clearly haven't talked to the bank about their current growth or near-term eps potential. Talk to Bob and you will change your tune. We've been investing in banks for 19 years, and the fund is ranked #1 in its category by Evestment. Glad to compare names if you send a private message.

Stocks prices are based on future fundamentals. We expect the future loan growth and deposits to be well above last year while we expect cost saves to reduce efficiency down to the mid 70s. With conversions there is usually always a high efficiency ratio that has dramatic drops in year three and four after conversion.

We believe that the bank will get approval and that will be announced on the call. These are not rich tech executives - they own a lot of their stock in the esop program.

do not have a take on the proxy - the reverse split (which I was against) is not an issue - either the company performs well or it does not. Sphere3d should add a lot of value to OVRL over time.

I was told that the block was purchased by 6 employees and directors at the company along with 5 different hedge funds. The company selling the block lost the analyst who covered the company and had decided not to continue this small cap effort

I've been following since Don Massaro came on board - almost a year now. It's really a fantastic turnaround play. I continue to hear great things about the pipeline. There's a lot of potential here

  • It's "difficult to overstate" the benefit accruing to The Bancorp (TBBK) from higher short-term interest rates, COO Frank Mastrangelo tells Mark Palmer. The company has a high-class problem in that it generates more cash from its prepaid debit card issuance than it can profitably invest. Finding higher yields with where it can deploy the money would substantially boost the bottom line. [View news story]
This is absolutely spot on. The company has an enormous float in its prepaid business that has been earning close to nothing. As rates rise, their increased earnings go straight to the bottom line.
