The Gold Stock Strategist » Profile

Scott Nystrom, Ph.D. is the Editor of the Gold Stock Strategist newsletter.

Dr. Nystrom spent 25 years pouring over economic and financial data, crunching numbers, writing economic policy briefs, and authoring complex studies while working at the White House Office of Management and Budget, the U.S. Congress, in academia, and the private sector. He taught microeconomics, financial analysis, and health economics courses at graduate business schools and to senior Congressional staff. Dr. Nystrom has testified before Congress on the unintended economic effects of government action. Decision makers want to know what he is thinking.

Over the past 20 years and as a self directed investor, he has applied his extensive skills to his personal investments with great success.

Dr. Nystrom advocates and uses a top-down/bottom up, sector rotation investment approach. This method involves identifying: (1) global economic and financial trends—the “top down,” (2) growth sectors, (3) undervalued companies in the favored sector based on fundamental analysis—the “bottom up.” As high growth sectors rotate, he moves assets into the latest favored sector. Dr. Nystrom explains, “My investment approach is like surfing. You need to get on the wave while it is building and move off the wave before it crests. The gold bull market is building right now and that is why I think it is time for savvy investors to begin adding gold producing stocks to their portfolio.”
