  • Chesapeake Energy - Long-Term Appeal Remains Intact [View article]
I would expect some consolidation in the coming months after the momentum and cautious production guidance into the coming quarter. Yet I would expect $30-$40 for first half of 2014 to be attainable.

True but the assumption of 1.5bn users does not seem that stretched in my opinion after adding 50mn users orso during the past quarter.

ARPU is a challenge, but global ARPU jumped by 65 cents to $2.00 per global user on a 12 month basis. If they can maintain the dollar pace (so lower percentage growth) a dollar increase in ARPU in 18 months seems attainable.

$81 results in a 4% yield, don't think we are going to see that level that quickly;)

I agree you should focus on GAAP, especially with stock-based compensation being significant.

Yet trailing overstates the real PE when you are seeing such higher earnings growth.

Fair enough. I guess his focus on the area can however accelerate the company's ambitions in the field, boost employee moral and give the company a new much-needed boost.

Well we have dollar growth and percentage growth.

ARPU increasing from $1.35 to $2.00 in twelve months represents a nearly 50% growth rate. In my projection for $3 ARPU I explicitly state a one to two year time frame.

If it would take FB two years from now to end up generating $3 ARPU this would imply an annual growth slowdown in ARPU of 22%, which seems very reasonable in my opinion keeping in mind the comments on the CC.

  • Corning - Samsung Deal Is A Huge Value Driver [View article]
GAAP earnings for 9 months so far this year are about $1.04 per share on a diluted basis. Now add to that $0.30 orso for the fourth quarter and we end up with $1.34 for FY 2013.

Note that Corning expected +20% growth for FY 14 and FY 15. As such, applying exactly 20% growth for those years results in EPS of $1.93 by 2015.

  • Salesforce.com: Aggressive Accounting And Public Relations Remain A Worry [View article]
Agree largely with your conclusions. Problem is with software/applications that other applications can make the company irrelevant while competing with Amazon.com requires billions in real-estate investments to start with.

agree that these structures, and especially the high yield of BBEP is geared towards current yield and not growth of capital.

Still I think many investors would be happy to invest at 10%, despite modest inflation and lack of capital growth. To compensate for years on inflation, investors have the choice themselves to re-invest dividend proceeds into new shares.

  • Synchrony Financial - Relative Appeal At This GE Capital Split-Off [View article]
    Hi Iclarius,

I tried to say that GE might deliberately priced the IPO a bit low given the relatively small size of the IPO. If the stock has a good run it would create solid momentum before spinning of the rest of the stake, without creating the overhang of a huge sale in the meantime.

    Interesting quote

Bezos is really feeling the pressure now, especially if shares drop and stock-based compensation/workers mood becomes an issue.

They had some good momentum in recent quarters, and given those trends the second quarter performance, and third quarter outlook is very soft indeed.

  • AMD: Sell-Off Is Warranted As AMD Disappoints So Early In The Recovery Cycle [View article]
    Thanks.

traders pushed up the stock too much in recent times by one-on-one accounting for INTC's gains into AMD's shares. The sell-off is a correction for that and some more, given the weakness.

Long should/could hold, poor execution has definitely created some long term uncertainty with me.

This discussion is a major problem overall. Too many side jobs and directorships accepted by too many executives. Especially when times are rough, investors are right to complain about these issues.

That seems far fetched with Q1 revenue growth slowing down to a paltry 9%, and the company reporting annual revenues about a $100 million currently.
