that is exactly the point I am making. 25% upside for both CVX and 3D is not the same as return/risk profile with 25% upside in 3D is arguably worse.

Agree. But if Jefferies is truly bullish they should set a +100% target and not a +20% target. With these kind of stocks it is all or nothing in the long run. While you can argue XOM, CVX, MCD or any blue chip has 10-15 up/downside, an investment in 3D Systems is all or nothing in the long term, and the target by Jefferies is little inspiring given the risks.

With alternative I mean general investment alternatives and not 3D related companies.

I can see CVX having 25% upside potential as well on a twelve month basis, yet the downside risks for 3D systems in relation to the potential return as indicated by Jeffeies, compared to that of Chevron is much less appealing.

Bit too much credit here. Shares still around $25 despite the correction, a similar level at which shares traded at the time of writing this article.

Haven't had time to check the numbers yet, maybe I'll come with an update.

Judging from today's market reaction, the market does not seem to think so. I don't personally know Middleby myself, but sure wished that I had this stock on my radar a little earlier given the very good performance.

Long term remains appealing indeed. Quite astonishing that shares were trading at just $75 per share at the start of the year.

See your point. For large families it is a very useful tool. As argued in the article, many believe it is a hype, while others believe it will last. This uncertainty weights on shares which trade at relatively attractive multiples despite the strong growth trajectory.

It will take decades to deliver those planes. Yet the backlog is a strong indicator of future increases in deliveries, revenues and earnings.

All I can reiterate is that I have no position. I won't initiate a short position at these levels.

Like you mentioned, the fourth quarter performance might improve a little bit, yet financial worries are a real concern to me. Depending on the stock level and improvements in Q4, I might become more optimistic.

True, a nice 25% discount of repurchases vs. current levels. That being said, the same applies for most names if you compare current prices to those of the average over the past four, five years.

That is indeed very sizable, and probably a big driver behind the run-up.

Repurchasing 100 million on average per year, or about 400k shares per trading day is quite sizable. This is especially as average trading volume over the past month is about 5 million shares.
