Depomed's first PHN study had a similar issue, where some patients were spontaneously resolving, and others were just responding well to placebo.

Some modifications in inclusion/exclusion criteria helped gear the study towards success. 2 years later, after another trial... they succeeded.

You dont have to "avoid compounds which don't measure with objective physical phenomena" you just have to design the trial for success, and hedge your stocks!

My neuro gave it to me for headaches and uncontrollable twitching. Not Parkinsons, but just weird, come out of nowhere and different places.

I was excited for its success. I was on a relatively small dosage, as I read higher doses couild be more dangerous.

I hope and hopefully look forward to DepoMed's drug being approved and effective for many people like myself who are looking for a different choice than Gapapentin (Neurontin). Hey, it is OK to be selfish for some things!

FYI. I was not given the neurontin for hot flashes specifically although it is and was part of the symptoms.

I look forward to the future.
