A similar comparison I once made: originally, the electric grid was built for light bulbs, I suppose. One could have even lived without it, using candles. Look at the number of appliances that we each have hooked up to that grid in our homes today. Does that mean that companies like Sony and Philips should pay for extending and maintaining the electric grid? Are they taking a free ride on the electric grid? That's just not how it works. (PS: I did mention that Netflix needs to pay postage itself)
