    User,

the h2o used depends on the process. for biodiesel, the water used is far less than ethanol. even at that, the h2o used for ethanol has dropped dramtically even in the last two years

    tom,

you are wrong on the energy balance. those studies have been proven flawed time and time again. for every one you can fins that claims that, there are a dozen that claim the opposite.

    Thomas,

I think in order to get to "z", we need to start at "a" and corn ethanol is just that. yield are improving everyday and the cellulose technology is only a couple of years away. we can do it now, just not as cheaply as corn. the cost is falling regularly though and it is not a question of "if" but "when". ADM is in the game here now and based on their past, they do not bet on anything that is not almost a sure thing

  • Rising Gas and Falling Corn: Good for Ethanol Producers [View article]
I heard him say that. i have to go back to the peix CEO who stated that ethanol selling at $1.50 a gallon is "very profitable". i think t.boone may be adding in costs that are not specific to ethanol (ie. the costs of growing the corn that would be grown anyway).
