    As a value investor I am a big fan of Marty Whitman but I am puzzled about his stance on MBIA. I used to take a lot of comfort in the fact that Third Avenue was a large holder but then when Marty sued MBIA over the transformation and made various critical and disparaging remarks I figured he would sell off MBIA given his poor opinion of management and concerns about solvency.

    But he didn't reduce his positions at all.
