I agree with you, particularly about St. Joe. St. Joe was a timber company that thought it could be a real estate company instead. Most timber ownerships contain at the most 5% to 10% of developmental properties. How St. Joe thought it could sell a million acres as real estate is a mystery to me.

They may have a few acres at $2,000 an acre but I doubt that the overall value is anywhere near that. My $625 is the mid range between $500 and $750. I could go to $1,000 but not more.
Timberland is usually bought using a long term DCF analysis. By long term I mean 25 to 50 years. The assumption that the markets will recover is always in the models somewhere. I think that is a reasonable assumption.
