Well, the computing world is going wireless and to the cloud. And GOOG is all over this in a big way. They also are deploying fiber in its Google Fiber initiative. They also bought Motorola which makes handsets and other wireless infrastructure. Owning a large footprint like NIHDs could give them real time dynamic customer feedback through monitoring operations and give them the ability to test new products etc without the stodgy wireless company management getting in the way. All this at a bargain basement price with a return on your money, money you can't bring onshore anyway without adverse tax issues.
