  • Investors Should Steer Clear Of Intel [View article]
I think you got it wrong. Buffett likes a "moat" not "bloat."

Buffett's ownership of IBM and DTV suggest he will touch tech, just not tech whose core business is in secular decline.

    Disclosure: no position

  • Unilife Corp.: A Big Idea [View article]
RVLT is a joke. FU will probably never reopen for trading - you hyped a complete fraud.

We are actually long UNIS with a very, very, very small position, but your track record does not impress us. It's not hard to push bogus microcaps - does not mean your are an actual thoughtful investor.

  • Performance Technologies: Expect Serious Performance From This Potential Multi-Bagger [View article]
Our view is that investors should be building positions for the long-term. End of life sales are definitely contributing (albeit at well below corp avg margin). Some of those products were in sales in 2012 (at the time not discontinued, but products that we now know to be end of life), so it appears that continuing operations are growing. We are not basing our estimates on 2014 which will have moving parts, but on the assumption that 2015 is flat to up 10% from 2013, with GM about 800-100bps better than 3Q 2013, and opex up modestly. That should get you to ~$0.50. Anything more than that is gravy.

As we stated, and others have commented, management has appeared sleepy and not engaged with investors. We are hopeful that this will change. If this is not the case, beyond the staggered Board, we think there is significant potential success in should an activist get involved.

  • ParkerVision V. Qualcomm: Why The Bulls Are Wrong About ParkerVision [View article]
Keubiko - since you've been tracking the conference calls, wondering if you've tracked the proxies equally closely. Just how much has Jeff been paid since...hmmmm....2007? They've needed to raise a lot of equity to make sure he and his family could get paid.

No incentive for Jeff to be full of crap about upcoming wins, right?

Anyhow, we're not involved, despite our skepticism, but hard to imagine anyone makes out except for the Parkers with a lot of success/damages, etc. baked in.

We much prefer OTIV with a real business, insider buying, and potential damages that dwarf the current market cap.

  • On Track Innovations: Improving Ops And Valuable IP Is Formula For Multi-Bagger [View article]
We still like RDCM and hold a position. Things taking longer to play out than anticipated. Business is a bit lumpy with a protracted sales cycle. That said, if you are patient and hold over next 6-12 months, we think the upside is healthy.

  • Pixelworks Q3 Reveals Why Its Shares Should Triple [View article]
Mark, nice article. We have no position in the security. As a point of balance, it is worth noting that your reference to Krishna Shankar of Roth should be taken with a grain of salt. He has held roles at progressively less prestigious firms throughout his career which we would argue is due to his mediocrity as an analyst.

  • Digirad: Fat Dividend Limits Risk, Operating Leverage Drives Potential 100% Upside [View article]

They made significant reductions in sales and r&d with new cameras given the ROI following a lengthy review of strategic alternatives.

If you look at the press release link provided regarding outsourcing or actually read the conference call transcript or 10-Q, you'd see that outsourcing is a new initiative, just starting, so to date, it has not driven cost improvement. But as we write in the article, it should enhance margins going forward.

Also, we are experts on the topic of electronics manufacturing outsourcing. It is inconceivable they would sign an outsource agreement with a provider that wasn't medically certified.

  • AVG Belongs Both In Your Computer And Your Portfolio [View article]
Your article states that AVG has a SaaS-like model, with significant recurring revenue, and excellent revenue visibility. How do you reconcile this with a 4Q revenue guide that at its midpoint looks about $20 million below street numbers (17% or so below)?
Stock might very well be cheap, but are we buying a predictable Saas-like business, or something different.
What will be the catalyst to make the stock work - appears broken for now? Likelihood of a buyback?
    Thanks for your thoughts.

If $TRLU is up 4% on soft 4Q guidance, then $MOVE, with solid 3Q upside, and trading at 1/3 the multiple of TRLU, and seeing y/y acceleration, should fly tomorrow.
