Don't be such a stick in the mud nutty buddy :) Based on this there are a number of things that could be said. For instance it appears the market sure likes Democrats more than Republicans. It also appears that the first few months of a presidency is when things really start to happen- looks like the swan song only lasts so long! Interesting too to see how Hoover managed through his crash. In fact the more I look at these the more interesting things I see nutty buddy.

Graham vs. Greenblatt (Part 2): Buy America and Buy Big [View article]
You raise some points that are very similar to thoughts I am putting to paper in a post for later this week. When I read Greenblatt I fall into the same problem you mention, on one hand you want to say that the recommendations are surely a guide and that as you point out surely he must also recommend “that stocks are fully researched before bought” but at the same time he does present his theory as a “magic formula” in the appendix he presents a step by step process on how to use the theory and there is no reference to the requirement of further research. Your point about audience I think may be a very valid consideration. One gets the feel that the editor may have run wild a bit with the book and removed a lot of the typical considerations (like researching a stock!) any intelligent investor would do.
