There are plenty of other investment opportunities available (which don't come with the risk & tarnished reputation that biotech has). Steer clear.]]>

None too happy @ the dilution either but it may have been the lesset of two evils. I believe the folks running this one are honest. They have a solid plan, I hope they are able to execute.

Happy Holidays

Thanks for the great information.... I too was not happy with the dilution but went ahead and added to my existing position at the low to hopefully make something positive of it. It worries me how insiders to the placement can degrade the other shareholders but, hey, that's the market.
Please continue to update; it sounds like the direction is promising. I have been accumulating over the last year or so.

Re: the stock price:

The cons: lots of dilution from the initial raise , plus more wts around $4. .

The pros: Hopefully JMP can bring some larger players into the stock. Perhaps ZIOP will finally get a coverage pick-up and a few legitimate market makers.

As for the company proper, they can now steam ahead @ full speed on their two IV programs and finally make a serious push into the oral versions. I think enrollment will probably take through the spring. Both trials are mid-sized (hundreds of patients) but multi-center so I am unsure of time for data collection etc.

Market cap now $131 MM on 41MM shares. I think 2 solid phase IIIs up and running (plus the younger program) could value them around 250MM by fall 2010.

Good Luck

My gut says if they have a legitimate program in PHIII next year with some cash in the bank from a partnering deal, this could be a 200MM market cap. If they partner both you could easily see the valuation north of 300MM.

The numbers above assume upfront payments to finance PH III of the ZIO-101/201 programs. ZIO301 is very early stage . Movement there with MSK could also add a bit of incremental value.

I don't know much about these smaller biotecs but they are looking to partner and have 3 different drugs in the pipeline. The stock is in the 3-4$ range now. Could it go to 6? 8? 12? or more ? Though I primarily focus my attention on optionable company's with later-stage products, ZIOP does appear to have some interesting candidates.

I am aware that arsenic drugs are widely used to treat cancer. It will be interesting to see whether ZIOP can develop a safe and effective oral formulation as you have pointed out above.

I will continue to follow the company's progress.

Good luck!
