I think Dr. George Doddington was eloquent, sincere, and convincing in his March 23rd piece “A Net-Positive Gas Tax” where he supported the immediate implementation of Charles Krauthammer’s “net-zero” gasoline tax. I also think he was wrong.

In the spirit of humility, let’s take a moment to examine whether we’re simply wrong about our main investment thesis: that extraordinary measures adopted by central bankers and government officials will result in tremendous inflation, and thus boost commodities and resource shares.

If Wall Street stocks can surge 160 points on falling earnings, an 11 percent drop in housing starts, and a 16-year record for consumer price inflation, then so can everything else that doesn’t carry a picture of George Washington.
