Don't make assumptions, kind of kills any point you are trying to make.

And try not to make generalities (ie 'it doesn't appear'), again any point that follows has no basis on fact.

Or it could be a contrarian indicator in this case.

I'm not sure I understand your comment, do you believe crowd-sourcing to be an unreliable method of data collection?

  • Whisper Number Impact: What To Expect After Cisco's Earnings [View article]
Don't know, we have never seen any proof, study, or data that shows stock prices move higher when topping analysts expectations. Some studies are showing the opposite in fact: http://bit.ly/1nDpPm5

As indicated in the article, our data shows the overall average post earnings price move to be negative.

Yes, the whisper number is an expectation. And the expectation is below analysts estimates.

So help me understand so I know better next time; point out in your initial comment which part is the "keeping informed and having an opinion about the stocks that I have in my portfolio or considering buying"?

  • Whisper Number Impact: How Will Kraft Investors React To Earnings? [View article]
"This it no different than a public opinion poll on earnings - a truly worthless exercise (or, yes a joke) for any serious long term investor".

I am not sure what studies have been done on the validity of pubic opinion polls and I would not want to state my opinion as fact, but I do know studies have been done on our data and concluded that (to keep this short) whispers are not a joke. Could you please elaborate on what studies you are referring to when you state they are a joke?

Here is a link to those studies for reference:

    http://bit.ly/IafkDB

"Using the terms 'punished' and 'rewarded' for companies making or missing your whisper number, and only if someone subscribes to your service?"

I don't understand this statement as we do provide what (historically) has happened to the stock (in this case) Kraft when it beats or misses or meets the whisper number. Did you have to subscribe to our service for that data found in this (and all) our articles?

"What I don't see is the track record for accuracy or any method to discern which companies will actually beat or miss your little whispers".

We would love to post our track record (go to our Twitter account for a table of the top 25 most popular companies this quarter for a snapshot of our accuracy), but then we get the other trolls that state we're not posting anything of value and that its just an advertisement. SeekingAlpha editors also do not want us to post that info as it is regarded as the same. We do post (again) in every article the positive surprise history - but we don't make a prediction about whether or not a company will beat or miss the whisper as our services and data provide a post earnings snapshot of price movement for a post earnings position. (On a side not, whenever someone mentions an analyst or upgrade or downgrade, do you ask the same question ie where is the track record? I just read through your comments and never saw that).

Considering the article specifically states "our primary focus is on post earnings price movement", its amazing to me that you pick a piece of information from the article and consider it to be the most important aspect of the article, let alone 'wrong'. So I am assuming you either can't read, didn't read this particular article, or just don't have the ability to comprehend a straight forward and relatively basic concept.

(Your 'question' is also addressed in the last paragraph of the article so that leads me to believe you have a comprehension issue).

Do yourself a favor next time you make a comment, either don't do it, think before you do it, or consider not being a troll by stating something that doesn't add to the 'discussion' or help others in any way.

(And I've read through your other comments - seems like you've made a profession out of being a Monday morning QB...or as its called on these boards, troll)
