  • Trick Or Treat, You Can't Beat This REIT [View article]
    Hi Brad,
I have a question for the CEO. "Are there contract clauses that would trigger higher than 2% increases in the leases if inflation were to go much higher? For instance, what would happen in a 6% inflation world."
Thank you for the article Brad!

that's right... :( I believe it has been due to a combination of factors:

    1) they sold only 4 systems in the last quarter (expectations were for approx. six), they said it's been because purchases have become more bureaucratic in hospitals (in today's CC they said that they had some near to closing that were not able to close before quarter end but that at least one of those has now closed and the others that were close will like close soon too). Still, they have to improve and grow their sales. The CEO sounded confident that the second half will show growth y/Y and will be much better. If he delivers shares will probably resume the uptrend.

    2) the market has been brutal for small growth companies like Mazor the last couple of weeks.

Is this a cumulative or non-cumulative preferred? Is it callable...when? Interesting idea, just a few details missing from the analysis.

Personally I see the low volume as a sign that few investors have yet discovered this investment opportunity.

Trading volume is low, the best approach will depend on your particular situation.

For big orders it might be worth it doing the trade through a broker that can buy the shares directly from Israel. The other option is buying the ADR (MZOR) or the OTC (OTCPK:MZRTF). One MZOR equals two MZRTF, there might be a slight price differential at any moment from the 2:1 ratio. In general MZOR has higher trading volume.

They probably could have a positive EPS right now if that was a high priority, but the company is being managed for growth (by increasing sales and marketing costs). I think it is smart what they are doing of sacrificing short term profitability for faster growth. In conclusion, it is highly unlikely that we see sustainted profitability in the short/medium term (e.g. 2-3 years).

Although it would have been much nicer to see some 6-7 systems sold (for revenue growth at 50%+), I am not too concerned. It is normal at this point to have growth be at fits and starts, since 1-2 systems make a big difference to the growth rate. With four systems they'll probably report revenue in August that is just a little bit higher YOY, which is not great for a growth company and probably why the stock suffered after the announcement. Still, the reason seems to be mostly that for administrative reasons they couldn't close some additional sales (which should close later in the year). In the PR it sounds like they are close to completing several additional sales and that the pipeline has grown considerably:

“Interest on the part of surgeons to acquire the Renaissance system reached all time highs, and clinical results from the use of our system continue to be outstanding. As a result, our system order pipeline remains strong,” said Ori Hadomi, CEO of Mazor Robotics. “The first U.S. commercial order of our recently released brain surgery module from a new customer as part of its Renaissance installation represents a new milestone for Mazor. The brain application is gaining interest with new and existing customers. During the quarter we faced extended administrative approval processes for system orders by additional potential customers. We currently expect these additional system orders to be concluded during the second half of the year.”

Hi Soprano, In my opinion the geopolitical risk the company has by being domiciled in Israel is very small. It might make you feel better knowing some companies like Google and Berkshire have made big investments in the country (e.g. Waze, Iscar respectively).

I would worry more about other things first like sales growth, competition, etc.
