$AGNC and $MTGE dysfunction continues.MTGE yields more than AGNC,and MTGE has over 2x better rate protection.10 yr tsy yield keeps going up.

    • SPS50: Agree on MTGE. AGNC better hedged on BV though per writers...

    • Info Seeker 89: @ Packrat 2x better rate protection? Where are you getting that info.? AGNC + MTGE basically have the same hedges in place.

    • William Packer: info, sps50, interest rate sensitivity and basis risk is lower at mtge. the q2 presentation shows. 2.5% per 100 bp vs 5.9% at agnc.

    • Info Seeker 89: Yes, when interest rates move 100 bps in 1q. Hasn't occurred in the 3rd Q. Will change this quarter. Like researched data on your end.
      10/17/13
    • William Packer: info, doesn't have to be 100 bp. it can be broken down into smaller moves and it is. as i stated, mtge has less basis risk and less rate risk

    • William Packer: researched data? no. the situation itself changed and i pretty much called the bottom. why buy higher when you can buy at the low?
      10/17/13
    • Info Seeker 89: If you look at a 50 bps move, AGNC would benefit over MTGE. Why state the 100 bps move when that situation hasn't occurred?

    • Info Seeker 89: You wrote "maybe a flash crash down to$15 or $12.All this might happen without default" Sorry, that isn't correctly calling the bottom lol
      10/17/13
    • Info Seeker 89: Obviously you were short AGNC as the debt ceiling loomed and now you're covering your short position w/longs.
      10/17/13
    • William Packer: i said it might flash crash, never that it would for sure. i was not short agnc, i was long 18k shares and hedged up with $22 weekly puts.
      10/17/13
    • Info Seeker 89: I agree you said "might". However, don't say you "called the bottom" when one of your comments said it "might" go to $12 or $15.
      10/18/13
    • Info Seeker 89: I could say AGNC "might" go to 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and then say I "called the bottom" too lol. Just admit you made a wrong guess and move on

    • William Packer: Info, in another post above this one.. i said buy now. And at that time MTGE was $19.15 per share. I also mentioned AGNC was compelling.
      10/19/13
    • Info Seeker 89: Yes, you stated that after the "panic" posts. You first said "going to $0", then the "$12 to $15" crash post. I'm glad you changed views.
