Wisdom vs. Information does not imply that I think I am wise; I humbly seek to discover the difference throughout my life. Nelson Hill is a reformed lawyer, PV solar system design and installation professional, LEED amateur, experienced energy industry oil and gas services professional.
The author believes that PV solar systems and fuel cells will provide distributed (i.e. rooftop) power as cheaply as utilities, without subsidies, within three to five years; however, he believes only a new technology can make solar cheap enough to compete utility-scale. The author only uses CSi and expects thin-film producers to become marginalized as CSi prices drop within $1/kW of thin film.
The author is working to mesh economics with ecology. Pollution is a natural byproduct of all plant and animal activity; increasing pollution by increasing consumption while-fighting-pollution is the history of the last 30 years. Consumption is worse for the ecology than pollution.
The author believes that the greatest gift God (mother nature, evolution, The Allspark, whatever) gave us is free will: fight for it-- but more importantly, use it!
