  • Steady Goes The Big Ship - An Update On The Progress Of Transforming BP [View article]
    Hi Jan,

Thank you for the comment. I have no opinion on what the DoJ should do, especially considering the current administration's leadership (if you want to call it that). With respect to your inclusion of a risk factor being the Argentinian operations, I would respectfully disagree. I don't know what percentage of oil production it currently represents of BP's total, but I would bet it is less than 5%. The important issues for BP are resuming full production, completing their refinery investments, continuing to get new project up and running in the Gulf of Mexico, resolving the TNK situation, and obviously the Justice Department negotiations or trial. If it goes to trial, will take a few years. Good luck with your investments.

    Hi Jan,

Thank you for the comment. Is that really a surprise? It was mentioned in the article. If BP does not feel a settlement is reasonable, they will go to court. Proving gross negligence is not an easy task. BP is still a 400 billion dollar big ship. Good luck with your investments.

    Hi Jan,

Thank you for reading the article and the comment. Regarding BP and the Russian situation, there are always going to be political risks when dealing with countries whose rule of law is not the strongest. However, when the majority of your revenues and profits come from deep sea oil exploration, that does involve oceans like the Arctic. BP has for many years operated the North Sea fields, which have similar characteristics, so their operational expertise is certainly transferable, as evidenced by the success of the AAR partnership.

Regarding information on the Indian partnership, try this link-

Good luck with your investments and thanks again for reading the article.

    Hi Ralph,

Thank you for reading the article and your comments. Regarding LVS being cheap, there are many valuation measures an investor can use to determine how much they are getting for the price they pay, and I only included a few as distilling information to include the crucial data is what busy people expect. You may very well be right about how attractive LVS is, and I agree with you about your election comment. Time will tell about how much LVS grows and how the stock performs.

    Hi CP,

Mr. Adelson is certainly very aggressive and ambitious, as good leaders should be. Time will tell to see what kinds of returns LVS investors get from the buildout of Macao. Thank you for your comment and reading the article and good luck with your investments.

    Hi Airportman,

The russian situation is supposed to clarify itself in the middle of October, but you know how these things go, will probably take longer. I have seen where BP wants to sell the whole stake and then probably want to partner with Rosnoft for further Arctic development. I don't think they want to sell their stake partially. Dudley will not give up that piece without making sure he gets cash and the ability to explore the Arctic, in some way, with Russian help. Just my two cents. Best of luck with your investments, thank you for the comment, and I appreciate you reading the article. Also, if you are interested, you can send me your email address and I can add you to the free newsletter and blog list.

    Hi Goleven,

Do some research on how BP has taken many measures to improve their processes, equipment, and commitment to safety, in all areas. Don't take my word for it, find out for yourself and you might be pleasantly surprised. Thank you for the comment.

    Hi BarryCohn,

Thank you for reading the article and your comment. Your comment shows no knowledge about the efforts BP has made and is currently making to completely change their company and business processes regarding safety. Regarding BP being toast and the investors being toast- don't hold your breath. Good luck with your investments, whatever they may be.
