    Troubled wind turbine manufacturer American Superconductor (AMSC) announces it has slashed its workforce by over 20%, leaving it with just over 400 employees. The cuts are part of a plan to cut expenses by over $50M, and the company expects to record a restructuring charge of $3M for this particular move in Q4. Shares -86% YTD.

    This is troubling news. Up until now, our clean-green-Mr. Bean-machine future was leading to the creation of millions and billions of new jobs. Those with a modicum of economic sense knew that for every government-subsidized clean-green job created at least two other jobs were lost. We never thought that the subsidized sector itself would be losing jobs as well.
