Qualcomm (QCOM +0.8%) roundup: 1) A year after acquiring DesignArt, Qualcomm has updated its FSM processor line to include 28nm chips for small cell base stations and other modular designs. Demand for smaller base stations is set to grow rapidly. 2) Qualcomm has updated two low-end, quad-core, Snapdragon processors launched in December (and aimed at China and other emerging markets) to support 4G. 3) Qualcomm states its top-of-the-line Snapdragon 800 processors will support Windows 8.1 RT hardware this fall; the PR leads GigaOm's Kevin Tofel to think Qualcomm is the favorite to power the next version of Surface RT. RT demand has underwhelmed thus far.
