    The ho-hum sales reported for Sony's (SNE) PlayStation Vita in its first days of availability in Japan (where smartphone penetration still lags) makes Tero Kuittinen think the end times are approaching for the handheld console industry. Smartphone games are cheaper, don't require an extra device to be carried around, and can address a much larger customer base. (also)

  • Didn't see this coming? When smart phone sales took off, the home video games stopped selling. That was three years ago. A little late for a call like this since it is a no brainer.
