Total (TOT), Statoil (STO) and Denmark’s Maersk are reportedly expected to bid in the first round of the auction for Anadarko's (APC) Brazilian ops, which are valued at $3B-$4B. Winning the auction would increase the exposure to the region of any of the three bidders.

  • Getting shot of Brazil is extremely positive for Anadarko, abysmally negative for Maersk if they "win" the auction.

  • Leaving Brazil is obviously the best move for Anadarko. You can't make a move there without a payoff.
