T-Mobile USA (TMUS +3.6%) is back near its post-merger highs after Bloomberg suggests the #4 U.S. carrier may be Dish's (DISH +2.1%) only remaining option if it wants to be a major mobile player, now that it has abandoned its Sprint bid. Stifel's Chris King: "T-Mobile is the only option left on a national scale. The pay-TV business in the U.S. is shrinking ... It’s not good being essentially 100% exposed to that.” However, past remarks (I, II) from Charlie Ergen suggest Dish could also sell its spectrum, if not the entire company. There's also the possibility Dish could up its tender offer for Clearwire, and use it as leverage for a Sprint partnership.
