I've been following Project Better Place since they started and their business model is interesting and certainly feasible for certain geographic locations. Better Places president, Shai Agassi is a very compelling speaker and the video link below is worth watching just to see him present his case.

It's nice that there are companies working on this type of stuff. Whether it fails or succeeds, the information garnered from the engineering and construction of a battery recharging infrastructure is probably worth a large fraction of the cost of building it.
