Mercedes to assemble C-Class in Brazil by 2015: Der Spiegel
- Daimler (DDAIF.PK) will build a new plant in Brazil to assemble the entry-level Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The plant will have a capacity of ~20K vehicles/ year, Der Spiegel says, citing no sources.
- The plan is presumably related to Brazil's Inovar-Auto incentive plan, under which foreign car makers can qualify for partial exemptions from tax increases by "conducting a certain number of manufacturing processes in Brazil." (Inovar-Auto plan, .pdf)
