Sprint cutting 800 customer service jobs
- The announcement comes shortly after Sprint (S -1.1%) shuttered Nextel's ancient iDEN mobile network, and lost some holdout subscribers on account of the move.
- The #3 U.S. carrier says declining customer complaints and higher satisfaction levels enable it to trim headcount.
- The cuts cover ~2% of Sprint's 40K-strong workforce. Nonetheless, headcount is expected to remain steady thanks to hiring in other areas.
