I listened to that interview, as did many others, and he said nothing of the kind - the opposite, in fact.
When pressed by the interviewee for a worst case scenario - if a giant sea serpent eats Asia tomorrow, the sun fails to shine, and 3/4 of world leaders are poisoned by eating bad oysters - Yes, that headline might possibly apply.
Otherwise, he was sanguine about and complimentary to China, as his country has always been, living in its shadow.
Perhaps the same insight his father, Lee Kuan Yew defined Asian Democracy.
