Treasurys slip on Summers to Fed rumors
- Treasury prices are a bit lower following rumors Larry Summers is to be nominated to run the Fed. The 10-year yield is up 2 bps to 2.94%. There's more action at the short end where the December 2016 Eurodollar future contract is off 6 basis points and now discounting 250 basis points of rate hikes by the end of 2016.
- Adding a bit of weight to the floated news: That Treasury Undersecretary Lael Brainard will be nominated as Fed vice chair. This move was floated by the White House last week as a way to soothe those in Congress upset about a woman being passed over for the Fed's top job.
