Shell shuts Trans Niger Pipeline, defers 150K bbl/day of oil
- Royal Dutch Shell's (RDS.A, RDS.B) Nigerian unit shuts down the Trans Niger Pipeline to repair new leaks at Bodo West and Oloma which resulted from the theft of crude oil, and declares force majeure on Bonny Light exports.
- Shell had re-opened the 150K bbl/day pipeline only at the start of last week after it had been shut for almost two months.
- Despite a government crackdown, oil theft and damage to pipelines remain a persistent problem in Nigeria, Africa's largest oil producer.
