Valero to raise light crude capacity at U.S. Gulf refineries
- Valero Energy (VLO -1.9%) plans to increase light crude oil processing capacity at several U.S. Gulf coast refineries through 2018, the refiner says in an investor presentation.
- In 2015, VLO will start up new crude topping units at its 88K bbl/day Houston refinery and its 200K bbl/day Corpus Christi refinery; the units will help both plants run more lighter crude to maximize the production of gasoline and diesel.
- VLO also is evaluating projects to unlock light crude capacity at its 290K bbl/day Port Arthur, Tex., and 125K bbl/day Meraux, La., refineries, and has plans to expand hydrocrackers at those two facilities and at its 205K bbl/day St. Charles. La., refinery.
