Mortgage rates continue to slide, Freddie Mac says
- Mortgage rates fell in the week ending Oct. 3, as the government shutdown started and as consumer confidence declined, Freddie Mac reports.
- The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage fell to 4.22% from 4.32% a week ago, and the 15-year fixed-rate mortgage fell to 3.29% from 3.37%; the 30-year fixed averaged 3.36% in the year-ago period.
