Navy accidentally posts notice of potential Boeing F/A-18 order
- The Navy mistakenly posted a notice regarding a potential order for 36 Boeing (BA) F/A-18 fighters and EA-18G attack planes.
- The error, attributed to "pre-decisional and internal budget discussions," naturally raised questions, given that the Navy is set to switch to Lockheed Martin's (LMT) F-35.
- "There are no plans to buy more F/A-18s in fiscal 2015 and production of the planes is slated to end in 2016," Reuters notes, adding that an official for the Navy has said "there is no program of record and no budget for the procurement of additional aircraft."
