    The EU's controversial carbon emissions tax could erode more than 30% of the airline industry's profits, warns IATA chief Tony Tyler. The first year of implementation could cost $1.2B, with worldwide profit pegged at $3.5B this year, and there's the possibility that costs could "balloon" in future years.

    Hmmm...Mr. Tyler? That's a feature not a bug with global warming schemes of various types, including this one. You take money from productive private companies and individuals and give it to unelected bureaucrats. That's the point of stuff like this. It's got nothing to do with "saving the planet".

    davidingeorgia beat me to the punch and I agree with him.

    I posit this question: If reducing the "carbon footprint" of individuals and nations is an effective way to lower global temperatures in order to combat "global warming," if the "settled science" shows that in fact there is "global cooling," shouldn't we be flipping the switch about now and expanding our "carbon footprint?"

    I'm sure they can just add on a "Carbon Emission Fee" to their customer's bill. I'm really surprised they havent had an "Oxygen Usage Fee" for the air breathed by passengers.
