    The company that registered the “iPad” trademark in China doesn’t just want to keep Apple (AAPL) from selling its device inside China; now it wants to keep Apple from shipping iPads across China’s borders as well. Proview’s request comes a day after officials in one Chinese city confiscated iPads from local resellers, and a week after it filed suit to stop Apple from using the iPad name in China.

    I can understand insisting that Apple call them something other than "iPad", but preventing then from being sold? Seizing them? What am I missing here? There is no reasonable scenario where Apple can't sell the darn things one way or another, under one name or another...

    And why did it take so long for the other guys to notice that their "iPad" name had been "stolen"? The delay can only be seen as bad faith in letting Apple get way committed before trying to blackmail them.

    Now FoxConn's move to Brazil makes even more sense.

    It would be suicide for China to halt IPad sales, Apple could move production to S Chorea thus increasing China labor problems which are already in trouble.

    This could be a much bigger problem for China. If they even threaten to seize production or prevent exports, all of their manufacturing base will move elsewhere. As for Apple - I would imagine they are right here and bought the TM, but someone should have followed up to make sure it got transferred to them.

    APPLE has several options:
    - threaten to move production away from China, but this would threaten an enormous potential market.
    - call the iPad a different name in China. ChinaPad, ApplePad etc
    - get FoxConn to pull some local strings
    - some may say; put enough money in the RIGHT pockets, i.e. Fat Red Packets for Chinese New Year.

    PS - HongKong was already part of China when APPLE bought the patent.
    PPS - Fix this hiccup, and you will never see the stock under $500 again.

    AAPL should buy T....and really ramp the bandwidth and run it like a business versus a utility!

    They already have 50% of the down payment and issue 5% bonds for the balance and then rule the world!

    T should be bought for this possibility.
