Why is Cisco (CSCO) so concerned about Microsoft's (MSFT) acquisition of Skype? It's not just that Microsoft's Lync platform competes with Cisco's unified communications offerings. It's that Microsoft's plans to integrate Lync with Skype could pave the way for a platform that bridges corporate and consumer communications. Cisco can't afford to be shut out, hence its demand for "interoperability."

  • Every user/subscriber of Skype should be concerned regarding Microsoft's acquisition of Skype. MS has holes all through its OS and likely is pressured to provide conversations by users to the government...just as Yahoo, Google, Facebook, etc. are doing. Big Brother is listening in to personal conversations.
