Dr. Doom at the helm of the World Bank? Blackhawk's Ziad Abdelnour makes the case to select Nouriel Roubini for the top job based on his "strong sense of reality" as witnessed by his call on the collapse of the U.S. housing market. Roubini has accumulated the requisite clout by hobnobbing with politicians across U.S., Asia, and Europe - while maintaining a needed sense of independence and realism. Other choices: Hillary Clinton, Larry Summers (previous), and surely an ex-Goldman alum or two (?).

  • How about Obama. It would go great with his Nobel Peace Prize.

  • Obama would make a great Secretary General of the UN

All care but no responsibility or accountability. Just perfect for him.

  • The World Bank is an arm of the US Gov;t which Dr. Doom heavily criticized. This is a joke, yes, pretty bad one too.

  • I doubt it. Not smart enough. You need to be Obama smart to run something like the World Bank or the UN. It helps at al those cocktail parties when someone asks - "Well what do you actually do?"

George W wouldn't be able to tell you - but Obama - now that's a first rate intelligence right there - he'd fit right in and drone on endlessly about income equality or some other nonsense. Only one problem with him - he really needs that teleprompter so you'd have to cart that around everywhere but otherwise the guy is a lock.

  • The director of the World Bank is just a hired gun for the major countries that control the Bank. The person in the chair makes no difference whatsoever.

  • I believe he also called for the collapse of the muni bond market. Rather party with him than listen to his diatribes.

  • Gold shouldn't be over $1000 right now, the inflated price is long overdue for a correction.

$800 USD is a far more realistic price right now.

  • Mr. Roubini's parents fled Iran, due to anti-Semitic persecution, and landed in Turkey.

He is Jewish, and an American citizen.

Like him or not, it does not change the fact that he is one of the top Economists in the game, having previously served the IMF, World Bank Group, Federal Reserve and Bank of Israel.

Branding him without understanding him is ignorant.

His first hand knowledge of "the system" makes him an obvious choice. Although the post is clearly more political than economic, and widely seen as a career stopper for those aspiring politicians.

The likelihood of him serving as Fed Chairman, has also been discussed.

Until you have had the pleasure of attending one of his Roundtables, please refrain from making silly racial comments about people you have never met.

  • DR V, this is your old buddy.. Take it easy on me concerning Roubini. There is no bigger fan of him then I !!!!!

Also, check you definition of racism. It doesn't actually apply to 99% of what it is used for.

And, I know all about his parents and his studies in Italy an his other abilities.. In my many posts concerning Israel an warning about Iranian agents coming through the Mexican tunnels got my old handle barred. We have communicated under my old name years back......

My point was that 99% of SA haven't a clue about him !

And remember... You agreed a long time back that Anti-Jewish is not the same as Anti-Semitic ,but, I'll let you slide here as Persians are anti-Semitic as they don't care for Arabs or Zionist Jews.

And, I think the Dr holds several passports..........Shalom

  • Larry Summers? No way he already has the job as Obama's puppet master. But the puppet can have the job soon, come next November.
