Tuesday, March 20, 2012, 12:18 PM ETIs this antenna-gate 2.0? Reports are piling in that the new iPad (AAPL) runs significantly hotter than the iPad 2, a problem that occasionally leads to error messages and shutdowns. The power needs of the new iPad's retina display are a likely culprit. Apple has responded with a terse comment asserting the device "operates within our heat specifications."

I suspect it's best to wait for them to iron out the issues.
I've seen one screencap that showed the iPad had to shutdown because of overheating. Guess what? The guy is still tweeting about how much he loves his iPad.
Please !, I had the 1,2 and now the 3 , I work it from 7:00am to 1:00 am every day and it works just fine , the heat is the same as with the 2, normal if you work it hard.
For all the Nancy's out there who mind some heat , please go back to desk tops.

What does "significantly hotter" mean?
Is it 2, 3, 5, 10, 15 degrees C, F, K?
I do not hear a measurement on this web site to help define
"significantly hotter".
Another rumour has it that it runs 10 degrees hotter.
Is that significant?
Now then, the iPad can get a bit warmer when encased in a thick leathery case, but it would not discomfort the person holding it. Anyways, I would not put anything electronic on my crotch if I can help it whether warm or cold.
I'm sitting outside in 82 degree weather at a Disney waterpark with my new iPad and no, it doesn't feel hot at all.
Stay tuned.
